ADDENDUM:  New evidence has been brought to the table given to us personally from HCAC (Hernando County Animal Control) regarding the last article I wrote “Domino Effect Examiner ~ Craigslist Caption “Domino Effect Are Horse Thieves & Scammers”

Maryann Tobin sent this e-mail below to a government agency, Hernando County Animal Control, on February 24, 2012, stating that the Domino Effect Rescue Ranch had stolen 4 horses out of 6 and refused to give them back to the owner.  She also stated that the owners were in the process of filing a police report.

Also on February 24, 2012, Maryann Tobin wrote this article: “Domino Effect Ranch refusing to return horses taken at Plant City farm”

http://www.examiner.com/animal-welfare-in-tampa-bay/domino-effect-ranch-refusing-to-return-horses-taken-at-plant-city-farm

On the very same day that she wrote HCAC stating that we stole 4 out of 6 horses from a Plant City farm, she writes in her report above:

“BROOKSVILLE- Six new horses arrived at Domino Effect ranch this week, two of which were taken without the knowledge of the woman who has loved them for more than 6 years.”

In her e-mail to HCAC she stated that we stole 4 horses that did not belong to us and on the very same day she wrote an article in the Examiner stating that we took 2 horses that did not belong to us.

She then sent a second e-mail to HCAC on February 24, 2012, the very same day that she sent the first e-mail and wrote the article  “Domino Effect Ranch refusing to return horses taken at Plant City farm.”

Above is the copy of the “official” e-mail sent to Liana Teague at HCAC with her letterhead.

Within this e-mail this is what Maryann states:

The horses were being boarded in Plant City. Mr. Ashcraft was called to the farm to pick up 2 out of the 6 horses there. When he arrived, he saw the other 4 horses that are considered valuable/registered, and according to my source, he refused to take the 2 unless he could take all of them. The 4 horses in question did not belong to the woman who allowed Mr. Ashcraft to take the 4 horses. When the owner found out that Ashcraft took their horses, they called and told him to give them back. Ashcraft refused-repeatedly. Pam Vandenburg of R.U.F.F. rescue is the sister of the woman who owns the stolen horses that Ashcraft refuses to give back. She can be reached at 727-398-2799.

Ashcraft may be in the process of trying to sell or otherwise dispose of the horses as we speak.

I will keep you posted by email. If you can give me a phone number I can reach you at that would be advantageous.

FYI- I have been in contact with TV news and there will be a camera crew out on Monday to do a story on what has been going on at Domino Effect with a focus on HCAS role in all of this. Just thought I’d ggive you a heads up.

Maryann

Maryann states:  Mr. Ashcraft was called to the farm to pick up 2 out of the 6 horses there.

Dinelle States:  Bob had spoken with Vesta Gatta before his visit on February 10, 2012, and they had come to an agreement that Bob would be picking up ALL 6 horses because the 2 in question were deteriorating in a short period of time due to lack of proper feeding and she feared the others too would also suffer from poor nutrition soon after because of the lack of ability to be able to care for the horses herself, as she was wheelchair bound and her husband had recently suffered a stroke.

Maryann Tobin States:  When he arrived, he saw the other 4 horses that are considered valuable/registered, and according to my source, he refused to take the 2 unless he could take all of them.

Dinelle States:  When Bob arrived there on February 10, 2012, his intentions were to pick up the 2 mares and the 2 yearlings (4 horses) that he prearranged with Vesta Gatta and later to come back and pick up the gelding and the stallion, as his trailer only holds 4 horses at one time.

NOTE:  NONE of the 6 horses were registered, 1 mare emaciated, 1 mare underweight, 1 filly yearling born from 1 mare, 1 colt yearling born from the other mare, 1 gelding (good condition), and 1 paint stallion (good condition, in need to be gelded).

NOTE:  Maryann’s sources were not at the scene and did not even know of the events that took place until almost 2 weeks later when seeing the 2 mares pictures posted on my Facebook page.  Then Amy Barnett contacted my husband, Bob Ashcraft, and at that point Bob explained to her what had happened.  Amy Barnett and Pam Vandenburgh had no contact with Vesta Gatta whatsoever and only did Amy Barnett and Cissy Barnett speak with Bob Ashcraft regarding the matter, neither of which knew any information before being informed by the owner of the Domino Effect Rescue Ranch, Robert Ashcraft.  Maryann’s sources have provided her heresay, as the truth to the events could ONLY have been provided by 2 individuals that were there when the incident took place, Vesta Gatta and Robert Ashcraft.

Maryann States:  The 4 horses in question did not belong to the woman who allowed Mr. Ashcraft to take the 4 horses.

Dinelle States:  ALL 6 horses in question belonged to Vesta Gatta and her son, Paul Gatta.  Paul Gatta was incarcerated and Vesta Gatta had since been taking care of the 6 horses.  ALL medical records and coggins were up to date and the 2010 records were in Paul Gatta’s name and the 2011 records were in Vesta Gatta’s name.  Paul Gatta also had a diary where he kept personal records regarding each horse.

SEE PREVIOUS REPORT FOR DOCUMENTS OF RELINQUISHMENT FORMS & COGGINS AND SHOT RECORDS.

https://dominoeffectexaminer.wordpress.com/2012/03/07/craigslist-ca-4/

Maryann States:  When the owner found out that Ashcraft took their horses, they called and told him to give them back. Ashcraft refused-repeatedly.

Dinelle States:  My husband, Robert Ashcraft, refused because the horses did not belong to the so-called “owner” that Maryann Tobin is referring to.

Amy Barnett States in an e-mail to Domino Effect:

Amy Barnett  “I told her (Maryann) numerous times that my beef was not with you. I told her that I had no entitlement to the gelding, the stud or the two foals but that Vesta should have contacted me before releasing the horses (the two mares) to you. The horses were not boarded there, or “dumped off” there, they were her son’s horses. “As far as this crap of you telling Pam that I abandoned the horses That needs to stop now! I gave those horses to Paul. Not Vesta. Paul lived with his mother on their property. When you take on the responsibility of owning a horse, you are responsible for their feed, you are responsible for their vet bills. Not the person that gave you the horse.”  Vesta is a liar. She is leaving her son completely out of the picture. Bob even said that two months ago Leah was a completely different horse. All of her weight loss has happened since December. This neglect did not come from me. this happened after Paul went to jail. Paul and I had the agreement that if he could no longer provide for the horses that they would come back to me. When he was sent to jail, my sister told them that we would take the horses back and/or try to find homes for them. They said that wasn’t necessary. I had been out there several times while Paul had them. I even went out there when the foals were born. To sit there and say I dumped them off and obviously didn’t care for them couldn’t be farther from the truth.”

Dinelle States:

Domino Effect

The part of “abandonment” was addressed to Pam because she kept stating that they were “your” horses. If you “gave” these horses to Paul, then this changes the situation, which we did realize after speaking with Cissy, but when Pam kept messaging me insisting that they were “your” horses, then clearly it was evident that they were abandoned on this property because Vesta has proof in her paperwork that she has been taking care of them, as “everything” she has done for them in the last 2 years has been in her name and Paul’s name which tells me that they stepped up to the plate and took responsibility for the horses financially, as they were clearly on her property for over 2 years, which indeed gives her the right to decide what to do with them. I told Pam numerous times that I had no doubt the horses had belonged to you, but couldn’t understand why you had not participated in taking care of them for the last 2 years if they were indeed still your horses, but now it makes sense because now you are stating that you gave the horses to Paul and why should you be responsible for horses that were not yours if you gave them to Paul. You are absolutely right. You would not be responsible to those horses if you “gave” them to Paul and Paul’s mother had to make a decision regarding Paul’s horses because Paul was no longer around to make that decision, so she chose to call us after her husband’s medical provicer referred her to us. I don’t know why she didn’t call you to come and get them, but she didn’t and we are not to blame for her choosing to call us to pick up Paul’s horses.

Maryann States:  Pam Vandenburg of R.U.F.F. rescue is the sister of the woman who owns the stolen horses that Ashcraft refuses to give back.

Dinelle States:  Pam wrote this to me in an e-mail:

Pam Patterson-Vandenburgh

February 24

Pam Patterson-Vandenburgh  “The reason I got involved is that Amy is my best Friend, not some person who I barely know”

And last, but not least
FYI- I have been in contact with TV news and there will be a camera crew out on Monday to do a story on what has been going on at Domino Effect with a focus on HCAS role in all of this. Just thought I’d ggive you a heads up.
Dinelle States:  The above statement is the only TRUTH that Maryann Tobin made in the whole e-mail that she sent to HCAC.  She did indeed threaten HCAC with their role in this and she did indeed call out Mike Deason from Channel 10 News and she stated in an e-mail to HCAC :
Maryann States:  “I have agreed to be interviewed on camera with this story.  Perhaps when millions in the Tampa area have an opportunity to learn about what’s going on at DE, the fraud, abuse, IRS issues, and starvation of horses at Domino will finally end.”
Dinelle States:  Is this a true vendetta or is this a career move?  Is Maryann Tobin angry because we went against her grain when her and her daughter came to visit?
Is Maryann Tobin lying to get publicity and in return hurting anyone who gets in her way???
The truth to her story is here at your fingertips
THIS IS JUST ONE SUBJECT OUT OF MANY THAT MARYANN TOBIN HAS BEEN CAUGHT IN LYING AGAINST THE DOMINO EFFECT RESCUE RANCH!!!
I, Dinelle Ashcraft, intend to cover each and every article in which she has posted against the ranch and each and every e-mail that she has sent to HCAC.  I will prove that Maryann Tobin is a liar and she is taking advantage of her professional position with the Examiner to destroy the Domino Effect Rescue Ranch and boost her ratings with her negative publicity.

UPDATE:

Domino Effect ranch threatens woman who complained *(See below)

BROOKSVILLE- Six new horses arrived at Domino Effect ranch this week, two of which were taken without the knowledge of the woman who has loved them for more than 6 years.

Dinelle Ashcraft States: Amy Barnett did NOT have these 2 mares in her possession for over 2 years prior to this date.

We have records documented by Paul Gatto and his mother, Vesta Gatta, starting in November 2009, documenting their care to Leah and Sadie. According to the records he had these horses for over 2 years 2 months before we rescued them from Plant city.

Domino Effect was called to a boarding farm in Plant City earlier this week to pick up 2 horses that were being donated to the ranch.

Dinelle Ashcraft States: Bob Ashcraft, was called to come to Vesta Gatta’s private residence to “rescue” 6 horses from her dwelling.

Bob was called to an individual’s private dwelling where Vesta Gatta and her husband, who is bed-ridden from stroke, live in Plant City. Bob was initially contacted by a friend of ours who has adopted 3 animals from us. Her son’s medical provider was also Vesta Gatta’s husband’s medical provider. She had been out to meet us in the recent months and she was now concerned for these 2 mares that Vesta Gatta had in their possession because the one mare in particular, Leah, had lost a significant amount of weight over the past few months and appears emaciated.

When Bob initially spoke with Vesta Gatta on the phone before arriving there, she explained to Bob that she was in her 80s and her husband was bed-ridden after having a stroke. She, herself, is wheelchair bound and she was depending on family members to help her care for the horses, as she was unable to move about the property due to her disabilities. She asked Bob if he would take all 6 of the horses because she was in fear of the other 5 deteriorating as well, as she could not rely on anyone to be dependable enough to help her in their care.

When owner Bob Ashcraft arrived with his horse trailer, he allegedly became interested in 4 other horses that were being boarded at the farm, including a Paint stallion.

Dinelle Ashcraft States: The above statement is an opinion derived by Maryann Tobin, as Maryann Tobin never spoke with Vesta Gatta or Robert Ashcraft, the only 2 parties involved.

Bob arrived at Vesta Gatta’s property in Plant City, Florida for the very first time on February 10, 2012, on his way back from delivering Princess Diane to her new home in Fort Lauderdale, Florida. He had already previously spoken to Vesta Gatta and her wishes were to relinquish all 6 of the horse to us. Bob has a 4-horse trailer and on the afternoon of February 10, 2012, he picked up Sadie and her colt, Paulie, and he picked up Leah and her filly, Pinky. He told Vesta Gatta that he would be back in a week to get the gelding, Riley, and the stallion, Spirit.

The property owner, Vesta Gatta, who is in her mid-eighty’s and wheelchair bound, was persuaded to give Ashcraft all the horses on the farm.

Dinelle Ashcraft States:  First of all, the above statement is strictly an opinion derived by Maryann Tobin and does NOT apply. Maryann Tobin’s only source to this story was from the statements made by Amy Barnett. Amy Barnett has not owned these horses in over 2 years and has not spoken to Vesta Gatta because her and Vesta Gatta do not have a speaking relationship. Maryann NEVER contacted Vesta Gatta or Robert Ashcraft (the only two parties involved) before writing this report, so her statement above that Bob persuaded Vesta Gatta is clearly false.

On Tuesday, Amy Barnett, a part-time horse show judge in Marion County, Florida, saw a familiar image on Craigslist in a horse for sale post. Closer examination revealed that it was her 22 year old horse, Leah. Barnett also found an post from the same seller for her other horse, Sadie, a 7 year old mare.

Barnett immediately contacted the seller and discovered that Domino Effect ranch, which claims to be a rescue, had posted her horses for sale.

“I emailed them and told them that these are my horses and they should never have been released to you,” Barnett said.

CONVERSATION BELOW BETWEEN AMY BARNETT AND DINELLE ASHCRAFT:

Dinelle Ashcraft States: Amy Barnett sent me this e-mail:

Amy Barnett  “Hi there. I need to speak with you about the 5 horses you received from the couple in Plant City. Leah and Sadie were my horses. My sister was dating the son of Vesta, the woman I am guessing you met with. My mares went to their place because they had extra property. Their son then bought the stallion and of course the mares were pregnant in no time. These mares should have come to me before they went to a rescue. I need to figure something out with you guys. I was shocked when I came across their pictures on your web site. The mare Leah is actually 20 years old, not 14. She is also a warmblood not a TB. Please contact me as soon as possible.”

Dinelle Ashcraft States: I went outside and told Bob and then came back in and sent her this e-mail back:

Domino Effect

I just relayed the message to my husband, Bob. He asked that you give him a call at 352-596-3104.

Dinelle Ashcraft States: Amy explained the whole story to Bob of how she had given up the horses when she was pregnant, to her sister and Paul Gatta. Bob told her that all 6 horses had been relinquished in his care by Vesta Gatta, as this was her wishes for us to find them good homes. Bob explained to Amy Barnett that if she had a problem with Vesta Gatta’s decision then she needed to take it up with Vesta Gatta.

When she asked the Domino Effect owners to give her back her horses, they refused.

Barnet has made multiple requests for the return of her horses through phone calls and emails, but every request has been denied.

Dinelle Ashcraft States: Bob explained to her that the all 6 horses would be adopted out to good homes and if she felt these horses belonged to her, then this was an issue that she clearly needed to take up with Vesta Gatta. Bob invited Amy Barnett to come out to see the horses that following Saturday, but she declined.

“I feel defeated and now they’re just going to have a horrible life,” Barnet said in an interview today.

Barnett was worried about Leah because Domino Effect ranch had listed her for sale claiming that she was only 14 years old and suitable for riding. In fact, Leah is really 22 years old, and not in any condition to be ridden.

Dinelle Ashcraft States: First of all, the only place that Leah was listed for adoption was my Facebook page in my adoption album where all of the horses’ pictures go after I introduce them to the ranch in their own album first. You will NOT find anywhere where I said Leah was listed for sale or in good ridding condition. Leah is an emaciated mare who will take many months to regain her weight back. We ABSOLUTELY NEVER saddle up horses that are underweight to evaluate or ride them. I did make a statement in this album to one of my FB friend’s that the following weekend we would be evaluating Sadie, Riley (Smokey), and Spirit, but no where did it say Leah. My Facebook has not been altered in anyway and everything I posted then is still dated accordingly to show this including where Amy Barnett’s friend posted Leah’s correct age and breed in a comment next to her picture. I welcome any background history that people have to give us and in no way had any reason to delete this, as it is very helpful.

Leah when she arrived before getting her cleaned up (First Picture).  In the second picture, Leah had just miscarried the evening before and we spent the afternoon grooming her and giving her some TLC. (Second Picture).

Barnet has owned the horse for the past 6 years and said the mare has chronic hoof problems and other medical issues. “Leah can’t be anything but a pasture buddy,” she said.

Dinelle Ashcraft States:  After Amy Barnett spoke with Bob on the phone, the very next day another rescue contacted me via Facebook to plea that we give Amy her horses back.

CONVERSATION BETWEEN PAM PATTERSON AND DINELLE ASHCRAFT

February 24

Pam Patterson-Vandenburgh  “Amy is devastated that her horses ended up in this condition and has more then enough proof to show you that she should get them back… I am more then willing to pay for the gas it took to go pick all of them up..Please Take my word as another rescue person that These 2 horses do belong with Amy Barnett , I would at any time give any animal back to its rightful owner… After Paul went to jail those horses should have been returned to Amy then…They were simply there to Help Amy out during her pregnancy…
Please get back with me on this matter.”

February 24

Domino Effect

Bob told Amy that if she needs copies of where Vesta relinquished the horses to us, he will help her out. Other than that, the issue is not with us. Bob saw horses that were starving and if they were important to Amy, they would have never gotten as bad off as they did. Those horses were dropped off on that property over 2 years ago. Now that they are the property of Domino Effect, they have become important enough for someone to show concerns again. Why hadn’t this been dealt with in the last 2 years. Why now all of a sudden? All horses that come into our ranch are evaluated to keep all of the “ifs” out of the equation.

February 24

Pam Patterson-Vandenburgh  “Amy will be calling Vesta shortly… If they can’t resolve the issue she has been advised to report the horses as stolen and have the police involved.”

Domino Effect

That is fine, she can do what is needed. We do have documentation that the horses were relinquished to us. From my understanding, Amy left those horses over 2 years ago in Vesta’s care and has not paid for feed or any medical expenses within this time, therefore, this is abandonment and had she been caring for these horses, Lea would not be starved. This is why it is between Amy and Vesta because Vesta had to make a choice to do what was best for the horses, since Amy was not caring for these horses that were in Vesta’s care for over 2 years. You and I both know that the care for 2 horses for over a 2-year period is not an expense to be taken lightly.

CONVERSATION BETWEEN AMY BARNETT AND DINELLE ASHCRAFT:

Amy Barnett  “I told her (Maryann) numerous times that my beef was not with you. “At first I wasn’t that worried,” Barnett added. “But then I started hearing things about that Domino Effect place from different people and on Facebook, and now I’m afraid for them.” She added, “This shouldn’t have happened.”

Amy Barnett  “I told her (Maryann) numerous times that my beef was not with you.”

Domino Effect owner Bob Ashcraft has a criminal history that includes convictions for dealing in stolen property, smuggling, larceny, carrying a concealed weapon, burglary, and grand theft.

Dinelle Ashcraft States: Bob indeed has a criminal history, but Maryann Tobin lists them as if they were recent charges, as they were charges he received in his teens and 20s. Bob is now 47 year old with 1 recent felony for shooting a pig that was out of control here on the property when a neighbor, Ted Koran, squealed on him calling the cops stating that a felon in possession just shot a pig.

The Domino Effect ranch is located at 10370 Snowbird Avenue in Weeki Wachee, Florida, and has been the subject of multiple inspections in recent months, by Hernando County Animal Services, and the Florida Department of Agriculture, over alleged reports of animal abuse.

Dinelle Ashcraft States: This will be addressed in further updates to come, as we will be picking up the entire folder of e-mail complaints from Maryann Tobin and others who have been nonstop harrassing us and sending complaints to HCAC. These “multiple inspections” have been set up by Maryann Tobin, herself, and others whom she associates with. We will address each one of these complaints with separate articles to explain the specifics of these allegations.

Complaints of deteriorating health in horses that are brought to the farm have been filed with Hernando County officials. Claims include suggestions that the horses suffer from lack of veterinary care and underfeeding. Domino Effect ranch claims to have a high turnover rate and many horses are sold before their condition deteriorates extensively enough to be documented by HCAS.

On Friday night, Domino Effect ranch offered to sell Barnett’s horses back to her for $700.

Dinelle Ashcraft States: Since the horses did NOT belong to Amy Barnett, Bob extended the offer to Amy Barnett that these horses were up for adoption with a 2-year adoption contract, she declined.

UPDATE

: Domino Effect ranch threatens woman who complained

In response to this article, Domino Effect conveyed the following statement to Amy Barnett.

Domino Effect

8:36pm Feb 24   “Did you speak to Maryann Tobin about the situation with the horses? Her report she has posted is false and if you delivered this information to her, this makes you accountable to giving her false information because she states that they are your words. This situation is getting ready to go public, because of her blasting this article about us. I hope you are prepared to have your name exploited to the public for delivering this false information. Please contact Bob regarding this ASAP 352-596-3104.”

Author’s note: All information in this report has been verified as true and correct through multiple sources.

Dinelle Ashcraft States:  The author, Maryann Tobin states that all information has been verified as true, but yet every paragraph I have highlighted has been false. She NEVER contacted Robert Ashcraft, Vesta Gatta, Vesta’s husband’s medical provider, or Leslie, the lady who called Bob originally, as the medical provider is her son’s medical provider also. Amy Barnett, the one who GAVE these horses to Paul Gatta over 2 years ago, is the only source that Maryann contacted to write this above story. Amy does not live in the same city as Vesta Gatta and didn’t know the horses had been relinquished into our care until February 23rd, 13 days after we brought them back to the ranch. She knew nothing of this, until Bob filled her in on the events that took place.

Domino Effect ranch has been offered an opportunity to respond to the controversy surrounding their operation.

And once again, my response:
